DURATION
6 to 12 Days** Depending on your aviation background

OBJECTIVE
To obtain a Boeing B-737 PIC type rating with no limitations. Computer based system home study, instructor led ground school review, and level C or D Flight Simulation Devices B-737-800 are used for all training and testing purposes.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
You will need at a minimum an unrestricted FAA Airman's certificate to start:

  •  Private or Commercial Pilot
  •  Airplane Multi-engine Land
  •  Instrument Airplane
Note 1:  If you are a foreign license holder please contact us for details of license conversion or training and certification compliant with an ICAO contracting state.

Note 2:  If you only hold a single-engine rating or a multiengine land "centerline thrust only" limitation on your license please contact us for details as to how you could potentially comply with course requirements.

ATP CONCURRENT WITH THE TYPE RATING
Students may perform the Air Transport Pilot Test concurrent with the type rating provided you qualify at the FAA ATP level and are in possession of the ATP knowledge exam results.  This would be performed at NO additional charge.  Please contact our sales department for details of the Airline Transport Pilot Certification Training Program (ATP CTP).

B-737 Full Curriculum

This curriculum is the full 112 hour Ground School Curricula required by the FAA for those pilots that do not meet the requirements of §61.64. If you have meet any one of these requirements you would qualify for the reduce hour course offering:

  • Hold a type rating (no PIC limitation) in a multi-engine land turbojet airplane (e.g. BE-400, MU-300, BBD-700); or

  • Have 1000 hours of flight time in two different multi-engine land turbojet airplanes (e.g. T-38 & C-17, or F/A-18 & F-14.); or

  • Have been appointed by the U.S. Armed Forces as a Pilot-In-Command in a multi-engine land turbojet aircraft; or

  • Have 500 hours of flight time in the same type of airplane for which the type rating is sought. (e.g. C-40 or P-8 for B-737 type); or

  • Have logged at least 2,000 hours flight time, of which 500 hours were in multi-engine land turbine-powered airplanes (e.g. 2000 total hours and 500 hours in a B-99, B-200, C-12, C-130, P-3)

Curricula:

  • 40 hours of Computer Based Aircraft Systems Training

  • 72 Hours of Classroom or Remote Classroom Instruction with Systems Integration Training (on-site)

  • 14 hours of D level Full Flight Simulator Training

  • 3 hour practical test in a D level Full Flight Simulator with a Gulf Coast Aeronautical Services Examiner

B-737 Reduced Hour
This curriculum is the reduced 64 hour Ground School Curricula required by the FAA for those pilots that meet the requirements of §61.64:
Curricula:

  • 40 hours of Computer Based Aircraft Systems Training

  • 24 Hours of Classroom or Remote Classroom Instruction with Systems Integration Training (on-site)

  • 14 hours of D level Full Flight Simulator Training

  • 3 hour practical test in a D level Full Flight Simulator with a Gulf Coast Aeronautical Services Examiner

P-8 PIC Experience
This curriculum is the reduced 40 hour Ground School Curricula based on Pilot-In-Command experience on the US Navy's P-8 Poseidon Aircraft. (Must have a NATOPs letter indicating Pilot In Command authority within the last 24 months.)

Curricula:

  • 40 hours of Computer Based Aircraft Systems Training

  • 14 hours of D level Full Flight Simulator Training

  • 3 hour practical test in a D level Full Flight Simulator with a Gulf Coast Aeronautical Services Examiner

SIMULATOR TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for simulator only training and certification you need a minimum of practical experience.  For the Boeing B-737 type rating program you must meet one of the following:

  • Hold a type rating (no PIC limitation) in a multi-engine turbojet airplane; or
  • Have logged 500 hours on B-737; or
  • Have 1000 hours of flight time in two different multi-engine turbojet airplanes; or
  • Have logged 2000 hours total of which 500 hours are multi-engine turbine time; or
  • Have been appointed by the U.S. Armed Forces as PIC in a multi-engine turbojet.
If you do not meet one of these requirements you may still perform all of the training and testing on a simulator however, you will receive a limitation on your license stating the following: “The B-737 is subject to PIC limitations”

The limitation may be removed by accomplishing 25 hours of operating experience as PIC on the same type under the supervision of a qualified and current Boeing B-737 PIC.  You must meet at least one of the 5 different rules to qualify for entry or the limitation will be added to the Airman's Certificate.
This limitation poses no problem if you are seeking employment as a First Officer at an airline.

RESTRICTED AIRLINE TRANSPORT PILOT - MILITARY
A U.S. military pilot or former U.S. military pilot may apply for an airline transport pilot certificate with an airplane category multiengine class rating or an airline transport pilot certificate concurrently with an airplane type rating with a minimum of 750 hours of total time as a pilot if the pilot presents:
  • An official Form DD-214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) indicating that the person was honorably discharged from the U.S. Armed Forces or an official U.S. Armed Forces record that shows the pilot is currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces; and
  • An official U.S. Armed Forces record that shows the person graduated from a U.S. Armed Forces undergraduate pilot training school and received a rating qualification as a military pilot.

HIGH ALTITUDE ENDORSEMENT
High Altitude Training is required for pilots operating the Boeing B-737NG airplane. Gulf Coast Aeronautical will provide this training to jet pilot candidates which have not received an endorsement for operating a pressurized aircraft in operations above 25,000 feet.
